Saturday will provide both Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweather with opportunities. Floyd Mayweather being the recipient of a media and fan bashing will have his opportunity to shut some people up. Of course I am referring to the pounding that Floyd has taken as a result of his choice of opponents in the past. Nobody can complain that Floyd has a smaller guy in front of him this time. A victory over Shane Mosley will certainly silence some of his critics. Of course some of those who love to hate Floyd Mayweather wont be able to. help themselves and will still bash on him, nothing he can do about that. With that said, if Floyd beats Shane Mosley he will send a clear message right across the pond at the Philippines.
Mosley has an opportunity to not only up his stock and position himself for a shot at Pacquiao, but a win over Floyd fuels the fire. If Mayweather loses to Mosley all of his critics and detractors will pile on hard. Mayweather will be hearing a lot of people saying, ” I told you so” if does in fact lose to Mosley.
In Mississippi the fans that I have spoken with have pretty much drawn a line in the sand based on who they like better. Most of the Mosley fans believe that their guy will win, and most of the Mayweather fans believe that their guy will win. Recently I spoke with former jr welterweight world champion Vivian Harris, and he is predicting a victory for Shane Mosley. So the predictions are all over the place with this fight, and it should be a good one.
Mayweather and Mosley both have big opportunities with this fight. Mayweather needs this win for his legacy status. Mosley needs this win for his shot at Pacquiao. The anti Mayweather fans want Mosley to win so they can jump on the boxing forums and bash Mayweather to pieces. The Mayweather fans want this one to strike back at Floyd’s haters.
As much as the Mayweather haters are calling for a Boycott this is one fight that this writer will definitely be watching.
