The Floyd Mayweather vs. Shane Mosley fight has all of the tools to live up to the hype. Floyd has been taking a beating by his critics about avoiding guys his size and cherry picking smaller opponents. This is not the case with Shane Mosley however. Shane Mosley has shown that he is actually getting better with age. His demolition over Mexican brawler Antonio Margarito sent a message to the boxing world that he’s far from done. Does Shane have what it takes to get a victory over Floyd Mayweather Jr? No, I do not believe that he does. Mayweather’s defense, and his ability to time his opponents will be his key to victory. I predict that the fight will go to the cards with Floyd ?Money? Mayweather getting the nod.

Being alert and ready to avoid Floyd’s counter punching speed is “Mayweather 101” by now. I am not sure if Sugar still has his senses to dodge enough of Floyd’s crafty punches, however I think Mosley should have some new tricks up his sleeve .. Mosley s key to winning this battle is his ability to penetrate Floyd’s awkward defensive style without rushing in. If he is conservative and clean while doing this he may be able to rack up enough points for a decision in his favor. In the end I feel a Mayweather decision will be the final outcome.

Mayweather by unanimous decision. Mosley will have to try to outwork Floyd. However, Floyd’s speed, youth and superior defensive skills at this juncture will make it a difficult night for Mosley. Though I certainly expect it to be competitive, I think the most realistic outcome is a Mayweather victory on points.

I think Mosley will be the toughest opponent that Mayweather has faced in the welterweight division. Mosley will come forward and throw combinations, and he’s fast enough to land some. He’s also powerful enough to do some damage with what he manages to land. Mosley has a puncher’s chance, and his speed will give Mayweather trouble for a few rounds. That said, I believe Mayweather’s defensive skills will win out over Mosley’s offensive skills. He’ll work his usual game. He’ll pick his shots and counter accurately. Mayweather wins by UD.

Floyd Mayweather is the best fighter in the world in my opinion. While Shane Mosley poses Mayweather?s biggest threat, Mayweather is younger, faster, and a better boxer than Mosley. At 38, Mosley is coming off the longest layoff in his career and on fight night, it will catch up to him. This is a Mosley who was out boxed by Miguel Cotto and put in a war with Ricardo Mayorga. Both Cotto and Mayorga are good fighters, but neither are even close to Floyd Mayweather. Both Mayweatherfamers, but come Saturday, Mayweather will keep his perfect record in tact.

“Power favors Mosley. Speed goes to Mayweather. If the Sugar Shane that annihilated Margarito shows up then Floyd is in deep trouble. But if it?s the 38-year old Mosley that’s been out of the ring for more than 15 months, then Floyd will be dancing around, rolling his shoulder and throwing potshots for 12 rounds. My guess is the latter but with Mosley taking 4 or 5 rounds. Would like Mosley to win but it?s Floyd by a close yet unanimous decision.”

Mosley, if he brings his A game, could very well make this the most difficult fight of Mayweather’s career. If he head hunts against Mayweather, he won’t get anywhere. If, however, Mosley keeps a busier work rate than Mayweather and focuses on the body, this could be an uncomfortably close fight. Even if Mosley brings his best, however, the thought here is that Mayweather adjusts and finds a way, as he has time and again.

Mosley by KO in the 8th or 9th round. Mayweather’s defense will baffle Mosley at the early rounds but I believe Sugar Shane will apply constant pressure. Coupled with almost equal hand speed and power, Mosley will eventually catch Mayweather with a series of shots. If Mosley will land punches that will rock Mayweather, Sugar is going for the kill.

I tend to fall into the camp that considers Floyd Mayweather’s greatness to be so great that it’s often unappreciated. Admittedly Shane Mosley is a wonderful fighter and his accomplishments make him a first ballot hall of famer for sure — but the difference between a very good fighter and a great fighter is going to be on display
Saturday night. Mosley does well against guys who are willing to stand in front of him and trade, Floyd won’t do that — Shane struggles against slick counter punching and if there is a slicker counter puncher then Floyd in boxing today I’d like to see them. I think Shane comes out strong early but Floyd will control the pace with his defense and counter ability before Shane starts to get desperate later in the fight and Floyd coasts with his shoulder rolls and pot shots beforethe final bell. I think Shane hears the bell in the 12th round but
expect Floyd Mayweather Jr. to take a unanimous decision somewhere in the 116-112 range.

I am leaning on Floyd Mayweather Jr win via 12 rounds unanimous decision. I think Floyd, though may not be able to knock out Mosley; his defensive arsenal is just extra-ordinary, he will out-box Mosley with his speed and hit and run tactics. But I won’t count Shane Mosley out, he has a great chance to pull the upset if he stays busy with his Jab and keep pressuring Floyd all throughout 12 rounds. Must be a good fight!
