If you were looking for any indication of how big this weekend?s welterweight clash between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and ?Sugar? Shane Mosley is, all you needed to do was place yourself inside of the MGM Grand earlier this afternoon. Stocked full of fans and members from the media, both participants made their scheduled grand arrivals inside the front lobby of the hotel and it was certainly a wild atmosphere.
The scene was similar to the one that was created by Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao last November in anticipation towards their WBO welterweight title clash. While rabid Puerto Rican and Filipino supporters made for a large majority of the crowd back then it could be said that today?s audience was slightly more diverse yet still full of passionate fans.
Mosley was dressed in a pink shirt and, as always, was smiling and seemed to be at peace with everything. Mayweather came wearing all black and seemed to be soaking everything in. After making their way through the front doors of the MGM both fighters walked through a sea of people and proceeded to conduct interviews in the ring inside of the lobby.
During fight week of any huge bout in Las Vegas you can sense the electricity in the air and the Mayweather-Mosley clash has certainly gotten everyone?s attention. It is a bout that some say is nearly ten years in the making and we can only hope that the actual fight itself is half as compelling as the early pre-fight festivities.
