GENERAL SANTOS CITY — A boxing facility that will serve as a training ground for future Manny Pacquiaos was inaugurated here Tuesday.
No less than Filipino world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao, this city’s favorite son, graced the formal opening of the facility owned by businessman-sportsman Adriano Golingan. The gym is situated at the Golingan’s Family Country Hotel in Barangay Lagao.
Golingan named the facility Manny Pacquiao Gym in honor to the Filipino pug who put General Santos and the entire country in the world boxing map with that rousing victory over Mexican great Marco Antonio Barrera last November.
The gym is complete with a boxing ring, speedballs, boxing gloves and punching bags, and is open for free to amateur boxers for as long as they are resident of the place.
