Edison Miranda’s time in the spotlight had ended

The move from Puerto Rico to Joe Goossen’s Van Nuys boxing gym was not enough to put the career of super middleweight Edison Miranda of Colombia back on a winning track.

Saturday night in Canada, Miranda was knocked out via a textbook uppercut in the third round delivered by Montreal based super middleweight title holder Lucian Bute in front of a HBO audience.

Moments before the knockout punch, Miranda was showboating in an attempt to lure Bute into more of a fire fight only to pay by getting knocked out moments later.

Bute has controlled the first two rounds of the bout.

Miranda’s future is now unclear, but we can hypothesize that Miranda will no longer be welcome on American boxing broadcast heavyweights HBO and Showtime after suffering his third straight fight when being televised by either of the networks.

Miranda’s record now stands at 33 wins and five losses, with 29 knock-out victories.

Bute remains undefeated at 26 wins and losses and faces possible future fights with future Hall of Famer Bernard Hopkins, or the winner of Jesse Brinkley vs. Sakio Bika on May 28 in Montreal, Canada.
