Mosley Can Dismantle Mayweather, Jr.’s Shoulder-Rolling Defense, Says a Martial Artist-Turned Orthopedic Surgeon

In an exclusive interview today with Associated Content at Granville’s Cafe in Glendale, California, Dr. Art Lee, a

U.S.- board certified orthopedic surgeon and a once-boxing and a martial arts enthusiast, says

“Floyd Mayweather, Jr.’s notorious defense by shoulder-rolling tactic may not work against Manny Pacquiao who could possibly break the former’s shoulder and may not work as well against Mosley – only if Mosley’s punches are as powerful as Pacquiao’s and just as powerful when he put Antonio Margarito into submission.”

Mosley was once seen as a fast, sleek and powerful force that broke down all defenses and aggression of Antonio Margarito, who was TKO’ed in round 9, of their fight early of last year at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

“Mosley can surely break Floyd’s defense if his springing-shots promises power comparable to that of Pacquiao, ” says Dr. Lee who claims to have reviewed several fights of Mayweather,Jr.

As for Pacquiao, “I believe he is too powerful , too fast and too sleek for Mayweather, Jr. at this stage of his improvement,” he intimates. “And Pacquiao is such a versatile athlete and he can easily pin down Mayweather because, unlike Pacquiao, his style is predictable, and Mosley can be as quick and as powerful as Pacquiao.”

Dr. Lee hopes Mosley will beat Floyd comfortably in the first six rounds. Otherwise, “Floyd will take him down just by hit-and-run tactic, for he is simply content with a unanimous decision,” he adds.

Mosley vs. Mayweather, dubbed “Who are you picking?”, will highlight for the WBA Super World Championship at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 1, 2010, live on HBO Pay-per-View.

Asked by this writer what he expects a knockout by Mosley on fight night, Dr. Lee says, “Mosley will break him down in the first six rounds and will pressure him more onward and I would not be surprise if he knocks out Mayweather before round 12.”

A Kung Fu Master at 36, Dr. Lee is a U.S.-born of Chinese descent. He finished his medical studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. Now based in San Francisco, California, he has been specializing in orthopedic surgery since 1992.
