The Internet and the rise of social media never ceases to amaze me. Gone are the days when “legitimate” sports journalist were the gate keepers to public opinion and news.
In the world of boxing, where information and opinion seems to be dying a slow and tragic death in traditional and legitimized media outlets, the Internet and its independent websites, blogs, and podcasts keeps the information flowing to a army of hardcore fans.
And within these social media sites, once in a while, a gem is found in the rough of biased and unfounded commentaries and opinions.
A few week’s ago on The Boxing Truth Radio’s Message Board, a boxing fan presented a well thought out argument on Manny Pacquiao rise from a flyweight to welterweight to boxing’s pound for pound best fighter. Geohunk, the author’s digital tag, defended his belief that Pacquiao is free performance enhancing drugs on the foundation of human body types and a boat load of pictorial evidence.
Is Geohunk’s argument valid? That is not for me to discuss in this space, but I thought it would be appropriate to bring some attention to his efforts.
You can read Geohunk’s post, “Physical Evolution of Manny Pacquiao” by clicking this link.
I can tell you that this Internet boxing fan put more thought into his defense of Pacquiao, than the baseless attacks rendered by detractors of Pacquiao.
