FILIPINO boxing idol Manny Pacquiao surely knows one thing many Filipinos didn?t know.
When he threw his support to his namesake Manny Villar, it was seen as political blunder on the part of Pacquiao.
Now, it is turning out that he saw what was coming.
Maybe someone from Malaca?ang lay a whisper on his ears that Villar would eventually become the anointed one of the Palace.
When Villar visited his training camp in Baguio last year while preparing for his fight with Puerto Rican Miguel Angel Cotto, many dismissed it as a political ?upmanship? on the part of the presidential candidate.
But then again, who knows what he and Villar talked about?
Freddie Roach must be flipping over his bed in Los Angeles right now.
Remember how he gave Villar that cold shoulder treatment? And how Roach virtually drove away Villar for interrupting Manny?s training?
A Villar presidency would likely make Roach cringe for giving the guy a stare down in Baguio that was widely reported by the Philippine press.
Besides Manny Villar, who were the other incognito guests in Baguio?
Will somebody also tell the people what happened in Las Vegas on March 14 (March 15 in the Philippines)? The first husband was in Las Vegas when many fought Ghanian Joshua Clottey. So was House Speaker Prospero Nograles.
Come to think of it, will somebody ask whose private plane fetched Manny from General Santos on his way to Naga City where he joined Villar who was holding a big rally just days after Pacquiao jetted in to kick off his own congressional bid?
Why would former Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson dump his fellow Ilocano-speaking presidential candidate in exchange for Villar?
Chavit is of course a personal friend of Manny Pacquiao.
If Villar finally is exposed as the not-so-secret candidate of Malaca?ang, then Manny just did what was not expected of him ? proving that he is already an astute politician by canoeing in two rivers that eventually joined downstream.
Or maybe, it could be the otherwise.
Maybe, the kiss of death ? the black widow ? will again strike hard and lethally.
