Amir Khan tells Ricky Hatton to hang the gloves up

Los Angeles – Amir Khan realizes a fight between himself, a young up and coming British super star, and Ricky Hatton, the fading Union Jack favorite, would be good money, but he recommends Ricky calls it a career.

“The fight with Ricky Hatton, that is the fight everyone is talking about,” said Khan. “It would be a must see fight in Britian.”

Though Khan (22-1, 16 KOs) considers Hatton a friend, the potential upside of a bout with Hatton is intriguing.

“Boxing is a business and if that fight every gets made, it is going to make a lot of money.”

But money is not everything and just like most fans realize that Hatton is a finished fighter after knock-out defeats against Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, Khan gives Ricky some solid advice.

“If I were Ricky Hatton, I would hang my gloves up and stay retired,” said Khan. “He is not going to do himself any favors by getting in the ring.”

Time will only tell if Khan and Hatton tangle, but for now Amir is deep in preparations at the Wild Card Gym with trainer Freddie Roach for his May 15 United States debut against Paulie Malignaggi in New York’s Madison Square Garden with the action broadcast by HBO.
