I haven’t been able to watch the whole Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey fight, but I feel like I’ve seen enough. One of those fights where if you’ve seen one round, you’ve seen all 12.
But easily the most talked about thing in the fight was HBO commentator Jim Lampley’s barrage of ‘bangs’ in the eighth round.
Seriously, just watch this and hear it for yourself.
I don’t even know what to say about that. Bang, bang, bang. Pacquiao cruised to a near shutout and unanimous decision against Clottey at Cowboys Stadium.
It was billed as “The Event” and that’s all it really was. Amazing what that place can do. Will it ever get boring to see 70-100,000 fans in an indoor place? Cowboys Stadium really has that special ‘it’ factor right now. Hope it lasts in the years to come.
As for the fight, another great outing by Pacquiao, but a disappointing display by Clottey. I don’t know if Clottey is wired differently or what, but he doesn’t ‘go for it’ when it’s there for the taking.
He didn’t do it against Miguel Cotto last summer, and he certainly didn’t do it Saturday against PacMan. But at least this time we won’t hear about Clottey being screwed over by the judges.
Up next for Pacquiao (we all hope) is the winner of the Floyd Mayweather-Shane Mosley fight May 1. You put this in November, and you have one heckuva event.

Friday is an ESPN2 event in Durant. It is being headlined by the rematch between Deandre Latimore and Sechew Powell. Latimore shocked Powell a couple of years ago. Hate to say crossroads fight, but yeah, it probably is for both men.
Also on the card will be Oklahoma City junior middleweight Carson Jones against Delray Raines. Jones is still in the running to be the first opponent for Antonio Margarito if/when Margarito gets his license back.
