GRAPEVINE, TEXAS–He did the crime, he did the time and now Tijuana Tornado Antonio Margarito is back on the big fight scene trying to win friends and influence people.
When Margarito was introduced at Friday’s official weigh in outside Cowboys Stadium, the public response was tepid.
I did not hear any loud boos or strong jeering but it seemed like I did hear the sound of one hand clapping.
Bob Arum has Margo returning to the ring May 8 in the friendly confines of his native Mexico.
Then Arum plans to use Margo as an insurance policy as a likely next opponent for Pinoy idol Manny Pacquiao.
I know it’s no blockbuster fight, not really, but maybe Mayweather and Pacman will come together to deliver the fight most fans around the world really want to see most.
But the fight would sell and probably sell better than Clottey-Pacman, I think.
