CHICAGO ? Today?s e-mail session begins with a letter from Dong Secuya ([email protected]), the man behind the popular website Mannypacquiao.ph. Dong wondered if Pacman knows about the site. He also asked me to forward to Manny?s camp a letter by Chris Duque of SGV in Makati, who volunteered to help Manny?s reported tax woes in the US.
Dong, Manny knows about the site and I?m sure he appreciates your effort. Duque?s offer to help is admirable, but the Dec. 3 story on the Philippine Daily Inquirer (?Pacquiao a US tax cheat after all?) was thick on shock value and thin on raw facts.
That story, penned by my good friend Salven Lagumbay of Cebu Daily News, relied heavily on a piece written by Internet boxing writer Pedro Fernandez, who didn?t bother to ask the side of Manny?s camp before tagging PacMan as a ?tax evader?.
