It is so easy to be lost in Floyd Mayweather, Jr.’s rhetoric when it comes to his animosity towards Manny Pacquiao, as well as to anybody who he feels contradicts his points of view. At first, we thought that he had some valid points with regards to his arguments, and many could easily be persuaded to toe his line of thinking. Sooner or later, we came to realize that all his accusations and contentions were merely based on conjectures and flawed reasoning. If we would just look deeper and beyond the words we would understand that in reality, Mayweather’s assertions has no leg to stand on.
“Manny Pacquiao was just an ordinary fighter and once he got over 25, 26, he became extraordinary. That doesn’t happen in the sport of boxing so it has to be something. I started off good in my career and all the way through my career I’ve been dominating. I started off good and became great but you don’t start off ordinary and become extraordinary. If Manny Pacquiao has nothing to hide, I never saw a man who didn’t want to take a $25 million dollar drug test.”
“The thing is, what people don’t know about the sport of boxing, in a fighter’s career, a fighter starts off good and he be good all the way to end of his career or a fighter starts off good and goes downhill towards the end of his career. A fighter doesn’t start off like Manny Pacquiao, just ordinary, and then once he gets over the age of 25, he becomes an extraordinary fighter.”
“How can you be indestructible with three losses and he’s been knocked out twice? The new Pacquiao? The one who don’t want to take the test? All roads lead to Floyd Mayweather. I don’t need Manny Pacquiao. For him to get his biggest payday he needs me. With or without Pacquiao I will make $200 million easy, with or without him”
And the more we listen to him saying the same things over and over again, we come into conclusion that this is not the behavior of a man who has a deep understanding of what he is talking about. In fact, the more we listen to him, we began to understand that it is just Floyd Mayweather, Jr.’s way of evading the bullets that were trained on him and deflecting them over Manny Pacquaio’s way thinking that he will be spared of the blame that befell their supposed mega fight.
Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is really a study in contradiction and it is also not lost on people his penchant of shooting his mouth off. He is capable of incoherent thoughts, illogical words, and demanding complete attention from everyone, even if his behavior shows his contempt and lack of respect for his fellow men. Thus, he can be compared to a three-year-old spoiled brat who will throw tantrums if he does not get his way.
But that’s just the way Floyd Mayweather, Jr’s brain is uniquely wired, and we cannot blame him if he lives in his own fantasy world. But Money May should realize that in order for people to respect him and take him seriously, he should first act like a grown up and be a MAN.
Unfortunately, this is usually easier said than done.
