LOS ANGELES – The ferocity of Manny Pacquiao’s training camps clearly indicate he knows every fight could be his last. This time around, Pacquiao says he really might be done with boxing for a while at least.
Pacquiao is training in Hollywood while simultaneously running for a congressional seat in his native Philippines.
If he’s elected after his bout with Joshua Clottey in Dallas on March 13, trainer Freddie Roach and promoter Bob Arum realize the combination of Pacquiao’s political responsibilities and his struggle to meet Floyd Mayweather Jr. could keep him out of the ring for a while — perhaps permanently.
Pacquiao believes he can still fight between stints as a public servant, but only if he finds opponents worthy of his time.
