In what has to be the most predictable events in history. Floyd Mayweather tried to start a real fight with Shane Mosley at their press conference yesterday in New York city.
The always classy, never sassy Mayweather replied,
“The thing is this: He may be the champ, but we all know belts don’t do nothing but collect dust,” Mayweather said, smiling. “I’m in the check-cashing business, baby.”
Of course the promoters were quick to add, this will do nothing but make it the biggest PPV draw in history. And Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions predicted the fight will do 3 million pay-per-views, even higher than the record set by Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya in 2007. We doubt it, but he continues,
“We have the two best American fighters of our generation,” Schaefer said. “Mayweather has become a household name, let’s face it. Love him or hate him, he’s a household name. And with Shane Mosley, you have the perfect dance partner.”
Now the funny part is that Mayweather did not fight Pacquiao ( who he knows he can not beat) because he thought Manny was using drugs. Which is a complete lie, but the real facts are the Mosley has been convicted of actually using drugs before he fought De La Hoya. So Mayweather figured it was smarter to fight a know drug user, than a know non drug user who you just accuse of doing drugs.
Mosley says it was an accident. and he did not know he was taking drugs, thought he was taking a side meth. (see my article on Mayweather accusing Pacquiao of taking a side meth that makes bullets bounce off him).

“I can’t say how many fights Shane has won in the past because we know Shane was using enhancement drugs. That’s something we do know,” Mayweather said. “It’s no different than Pacquiao. I offered Pacquiao the fight. I said, ‘We’ll give you $25 million.’ I never met a man who wouldn’t take a $25 million drug test.”
The hype continued by the once great Oscar De La Hoya,
“This fight reminds me of back in the days of Sugar Ray Leonard and Tommy Hearns, the fights we saw back in the day, the classic fights that brought boxing back. I’ve fought both fighters and I already know what’s going to happen. I already know there’s going to be a knockout, I already know, and it ain’t going to be ‘pretty.”‘
Can’t wait to see Mosley beat this chump.
