Los Angeles – Junior welterweight contender Victor Ortiz (27-2-1, 21 KOs) kicked off Golden Boy Promotion’s second season of Fight Nights at Nokia Live in downtown Los Angeles Thursday night with tenth knock-out over Hector Alatorre (16-9, 5 KOs)
In a tune-up bout against Alatorre, who has never been stopped and provided a valuable ten rounds, Ortiz (26-2-1, 20 KOs) continued to re-build his career after quiting against Marcos Maidana last June and is headed to square off with tough veteran Nate Campell on May 15 at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Featherweight Charles Huerta (13-1, 7 KOs) of Paramount took a majority decision (57-57, 59-55, 58-56) from Gudalupe De Leon in a six round affair. Huerta continues to rebound from a knockout defeat against Derrick Wilson which took place during Fight Nights initial series last year.
In a four round fight lightweight Luis Ramos (13-0, 7 KOs) of Santa Ana defeated Walter Estrada via unanimous decision. Ramos, a hot prospect promoted by Golden Boy, did not show his usual combination flash and power and was frustrated by the veteran Colombian.
The entire card is available on-demand at RingTV.
