JUST like Manny Pacquiao, Filipino-American Brian Viloria has been installed the favorite in his coming bout with World Boxing Council (WBC) light flyweight champion Eric Ortiz.
Viloria is listed by the sportsbook as minus 145 while Ortiz is plus 115.
Viloria, called the `Hawaiian Punch’ and trained by Freddie Roach, attempts to wrest the crown from Ortiz and will be fighting in the undercard of the Pacquiao-Morales double header on Sept. 10 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Viloria, 24, is a former Olympian and one of today’s exciting fighters in the lower weight category.
He is undefeated in 16 fights and is ranked No. 2 by the WBC, No. 3 by the World Boxing Association (WBA) and No. 10 by the International Boxing Federation.
Viloria is expected to wear the Philippine flag in his trunks the moment he enters the ring against Ortiz, saying he is 100 percent Filipino.
Pacquiao fights Hector Velazquez in a 12-round super featherweight encounter, while Morales goes up against Zahir Raheem.
Another Filipino, Rey Baustista, is fighting in the same card.
