Manny Pacquiao recently went on the record as saying he thinks Shane Mosley will beat Floyd Mayweather. The bookmakers and most of the public don’t agree with him however, and Floyd is the slight but clear favorite heading into May 1st.
Despite his comments though, deep down Manny might be rooting for Floyd Maywather rather than the much more affable Sugar Shane. The reason being simply that he wants to be the man to beat Mayweather, and if Mosley does it, his aura of mystique will be taken away.
A win for Mosley here wouldn’t be such a big upset either, he has speed and power, and hopefully enough sense to follow De La Hoya’s blueprint. If a half baked Golden boy can take Floyd to the very precipice of defeat, then Mosley sure can to so long as he fights the right fight and doesn’t get drawn into chasing Mayweather around the ring.

Assuming Pacquiao gets past Clottey, which most agree he should do without many problems, then Mayweather or Mosley will be the next target.
Mosley would no doubt be a lot easier to deal with, and the fight could probably be made within a matter of days. Mayweather would be more lucrative, but at the same time it might not be possible to make the fight happen. Given that the two camps despise each other and that the issue of the extra testing is still looking large.
The most likely outcome will be that Pacquiao is eventually left with a choice of either Antonio Margarito or Shane Mosley. If the fight against Floyd is very close, then Mosley would remain a viable opponent. Similarly if the fight against Floyd can’t be made and he beat Shane easily, then Margarito would probably be the favorite.
