THE NEXT big thing in Philippine boxing will have his debut on the big stage the day the current toast of the trade tries to clear his path to immortality.
Before Manny Pacquiao takes on Mexican Hector Velazquez in a bid to justify a rematch with Erik Morales, Filipino teen sensation Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista will display his boxing savvy before the world opposite Felix Murilo of Columbia.
Bautista is undefeated in 16 bouts with 12 not lasting the distance. He holds the World Boxing Organization Asia-Pacific (WBO As-Pac) belt.
While Pacquaio is more of a brawler especially during his early years in the industry, Bautista is a stylish fighter who loves to work his opponent.
Local boxing fans will have the opportunity to witness the country’s boxing heroes in action through the simultaneous broadcasts of Solar Sports and RPN-9 on Sept. 11.
