ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer, Dr. Benito Calderon and rehab doctor Dr. Ruel Dejano have finalized Z Gorres’ rehabilitation program at Perpetual Succour Hospital over dinner last Wednesday.
Z Gorres will resume comprehensive rehabilitation this Monday at the Advanced Rehabcare and Sports Medicine Center under three therapists who will address the different problems the 27-year-old Gorres has after suffering a life-threatening head trauma.
Gorres will be handled by a physical therapist, an occupational therapist and a speech therapist in his Mondays to Fridays session.
Aldeguer told Sun.Star Cebu that Dejano was impressed with Gorres’ progress since he was discharged from the University Medical Center in Las Vegas last Jan.15.
“He (Dejano) is confident that Gorres will improve more after a few months of therapy,” said Aldeguer.
Gorres can now use his left hand and can walk using a walker with some assistance.
Dr. Calderon, who adopted Gorres and his wife Datches at his home in Las Vegas, believes that Gorres’ homecoming played a huge aspect in his recovery.
“He is much better compared to when we brought him here. His kids will play a big factor in his recovery,” said Calderon.
Gorres will also have his throat checked by specialist Dr. Gary Rivera because he has been coughing lately.
Gorres was overjoyed yesterday after finally returning to ALA Gym to visit his friends and fellow boxers whom he treated to lunch.
“It makes me very happy seeing the young kids in training,” said Gorres, who has been with the ALA Gym since he was nine.
