Floyd Mayweather Jr and his camp have come out over the recent weeks and claimed that Floyd is trying to clean up the sport. He wants to implement Olympic style drug testing into professional boxing. In fact, he won’t fight anyone unless they agree to this style of testing. Floyd wants to be the “savior” of boxing. However, there’s only one problem. Floyd is the one that’s taking drugs.
Xylocaine (Lidocaine) is banned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. However, fighters can take it up to one week before the fight. In addition to being banned by the NSAC, Xylocaine is also illegal in other states. This is presumably due to the fact that Xylocaine is an anesthetic that’s supposed to be used under the care of a doctor due to the potential serious side effects.
The biggest advantage of Lidocaine for Mayweather is that it helps to numb his hands so he can continue punching without debilitating pain. So it’s a pain killer which allows Mayweather to throw powerful punches more often and longer due to the fact that he can’t feel the normal response of pain. It provides boxers an advantage if they don’t feel any pain in their hands.

Yes, he accuses others of taking illegal substances yet he takes something that’s illegal. In short, he’s a hypocrite. When you tell someone to do something and you do the opposite, that makes you a hypocrite.
At best, Xylocaine is controversial and at worse it’s a performance enhancing pain killer. If Mayweather truly wants to clean up Boxing’s drug problems then he needs to lead by example. However, I doubt he really wants to clean up anything. He’s only about himself. Floyd does whatever he can do to get whatever he wants. And right now, he wants Manny to bow down to his demands. If Manny agreed to Floyd’s initial demands, we would not be hearing about Floyd’s desire to clean up the sport.
