“PEOPLE’S FEATHERWEIGHT” champion Manny Pacquiao urged those aspiring to become boxing champions to discipline themselves and shy away from vices that could destroy the body, such as drugs, cigarette and alcohol.
The 24-year-old Pacquiao was paraded along the main streets in a hero’s welcome here Thursday, causing traffic to crawl at a snail’s pace. Children were chanting “Idol! Idol! Idol!” at the sight of the boxing champion.
Appearing with former world boxing champion Rolando Navarette, the so-called “Bad Boy of Dadiangas” for his brushes with the law, Pacquiao reminded Filipino boxers to stay focused on their careers and not waste it by “indulging on worldly activities that could destroy their professional chances.”
