EVEN before leathers can be thrown in their respective tune-up bouts, pound-for-pound boxing icons Erik Morales and Manny Pacquiao will get the chance to hype up their planned rematch in March next year when they take part in an international telephone conference today from their respective training lairs.
Today’s teleconference will be made available to the world media, which have been closely following both Morales and Pacquiao since their first encounter last March 19 which ended with the Mexican’s victory on points.
Morales will hook up straight from his training facility in Mexico’s Centro Ceremonial Otomi in the Otomi mountains, while Pacquiao will speak from the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.
Morales and Pacquiao are expected to talk about their respective fights on Sept. 10 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Morales faces American ex-Olympian Zahir Raheem, while Pacquiao takes on Mexico’s Hector Velazquez in the co-main event of the “Double Trouble” card.
Both fights will be aired by HBO.
Morales has been sparring against the likes of Jorge Solis, Julio Z rate, and Mike Clark at the high-altitude Otomi.
Pacquiao, meanwhile, has been a virtual recluse after trainer Freddie Roach decided not to allow hangers-on at his Wild Card gym.
