My esteemed colleague, Michael Marley, has reported that Floyd Mayweather Jr has balked at fighting Shane Mosley. Apparently, Mayweather thinks the fight with Mosley would be tougher than against Pacquiao and not as much pay. I’m here to tell you that if Mayweather Jr ducks Mosley then he should be kicked out of boxing.
First, Mayweather has a history of ducking tough fights. Second, Mayweather just destroyed the contractual talks with Pacquiao’s people. Now, he is possibly walking away from a fight with Mosley because it might be tough and there’s less pay involved. This is pathetic.
How much longer will boxing and the American mainstream media allow Mayweather to run and hide from the tougher fights? How much longer do we have to be subjected to a coward who’s making a mockery of this sport?
The boxing fans were dreaming of Mayweather vs Pacquiao and unified in joyfulness when the contractual talks began. Unfortunately, they were all dismayed at the failure of this fight to come to fruition. When the media started picking up on a possible Mosley vs Mayweather fight, fans started getting excited again at the potential of this fight. At the very least, we could see a possible Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight afterwards.
But now, Mayweather is spitting in the face of all the boxing fans by balking, ducking, walking, running, hiding, avoiding, and lying his way out of this fight with Mosley. I tell you the truth, if he doesn’t fight Mosley then Boxing should kick him out or the fans should run him out of this great sport.
