Manny Pacquiao’s press tour of American has generated excitement and media hype. In fact, some boxing fans are saying that Pacquiao’s giving Dallas a “Super Bowl” like feeling and proving to the Boxing world how big of a star he really is. But you don’t have to convince the Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones of this because he’s already on board: “I have wanted to bring a major boxing event to North Texas for many years, so why not bring in the biggest and the best? Manny Pacquiao is boxing’s No. 1 pound-for-pound attraction and the world champion. We’re going to promote this like it was the Super Bowl.”… Jerry Jones (Boxing FanHouse)
One example of Jerry’s “Super Bowl” promotions is a big-time press conference for the fight. Jerry has invited the Dallas Cowgirls and former legends of the Dallas Cowboys to attend Pacquiao’s fight conference tomorrow. Some of the football greats attending are Tony Dorsett Ed “Too Tall” Jones, Drew Pearson, and Tony Hill.
The stadium will be set up with the following press conference modifications according to my Examiner.com colleague Matt Stolow: “A 60 – foot stage is being erected for all the VIPs and other invited guests, It will be covering the midfield Cowboys star on the field. The 180 – foot long HD TV will be lowered all the way down to just 30 – feet above the field and be in full glorious operation during the press conference.”
I personally believe that the American public is starting to wake up and see how great Boxing’s greatest pound-for-pound fighter really is. The world’s greatest boxer is bringing a Super Bowl feeling to America and America’s Team (Dallas Cowboys) which no other boxer can duplicate.
