From boxers to family to fans, the majority voice calls for Ricky Hatton to retire. I can’t remember a time when so many people came out to say a boxer should retire at such a young age. Hatton is not old compared to other fighters who are still fighting like Hopkins and Jones Jr. But, many people think he’s done and that he will only hurt himself if he fights again.
Former International Boxing Federation/WBA/WBC welterweight champion Lloyd Honeyghan made the following comments about Hatton: “A half decent shot will knock him [Hatton]. All he’s going to do is damage himself more. Rick is in danger of being seriously hurt. He’s [Hatton] putting his health at great risk”… quote from The Mirror

Recently retired, Joe Calzaghe made the following comments in his column: “I would have liked to see Ricky retire. He’s been in some true wars over the years, everyone knows about his lifestyle and the last time he fought, he was knocked out for three minutes”
Hatton’s family and friends have also expressed that Ricky should retire. Did the KO from Pacquiao cause that much damage to Hatton? Apparently, many think so. Ricky Hatton, however, is not listening to what others are saying. He’s determined to come back and fight again and is actively looking for an opponent. “Everyone is forgetting I have lost to the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
