Floyd Mayweather Age 16 – 106 lbs (1993) – first amateur fight Age 19 – 130 lbs (1996) – first professional fight Age 21 – 130 lbs (1998) – Won first belt Age 25 – 135 lbs (2002) – defeated Castillo for lightweight belt Age 27 – 140 lbs (2004) – Defeated Corley Age 28 – 147 lbs (2005) – defeated mitchell Age 30 – 154 lbs (2007) – defeated Dela Hoya Age 32 – 147 lbs (2009) – defeated Marquez

* Notice that both fighters started their boxing career at 106lbs although Floyd was still amateur that time. * Floyd stands at 5’8″ while Manny is a t 5’61/2″ * Both fighters gained 40lbs at least (Floyd reached as much as 154 so it’s higher) * The most critical part was Floyd jump from 106 to 130 in a span of 3 years while Manny went from 106 to 112 lbs in his first 3 years as pro. * We could arguably attribute that to the fact that Manny was malnourished at that stage of his career. He was too skinny and actually tall for a light flyweight at that time.

So there you have it, two great fighters, it might not be normal but guess what? Only the great can achieve that kind of accomplishments.
