Manny Pacquiao usually gives respect to his colleagues. He gives it and he has a right, based on his record and incredible accomplishments, has a right to demand such professional courtesy in return.
Yet a juvenile delinquent named Floyd No Joy Mayweather Jr. calls the Pinoy Idol ?a punk ass bitch? because their respective camps are 10 days apart on a random blood test prefight cutoff date and a $200 million grossing fight has gone kaput at least til next fall.
This is an accomplished athlete, one of the best at his trade, as his unbeaten record underlines. I?ve yet to see anyone who has ever been in the ring label Mayweather a coward.
The Coward of Clark County he is not. Cowards don?t fight warriors such as Jose Luis Castillo or Juan Manuel Marquez.
But isn?t Mayweather, who turns 33 on Feb. 24, who is really the ?punk? here?
Nothing that goes wrong around him is ever his fault.
A young man who had the temerity to send L?il Floyd a text mail saying he wanted him to lose his next fight gets shot at after being confronted by Mayweather and his paid goons at a Vegas roller skating rink.
Cops come calling at the Big Boy Mansion and find weapons and ammo but Mayweather knows noting about the shots fired. It?s just a coincidence that he had ?beef? with the guy, that he confronted the guy just before the shooting and that he was even at the rink.
Mayweather knows nothing about nothing.
When Pacquiao outdraws him on PPV TV and at the live gate? Well, that?s HBO?s fault or the MGM Grand?s fault, it has nothing to do with his turning people off persona.
After all he is the self proclaimed ?cash cow? of boxing, right?
Mayweather fronts. Mayweather wants his peers to think he is a gritty street guy, that he has gangsta ?cred? like his buddy, Fifty Cent does.
Mayweather wants to come off like glowering Mike Tyson, who looked into Razor Ruddock?s face and said, ?I?ll make you my girlfriend.?
Tyson could play the thug role and it was believable. When Mayweather does it, it is laughable and contemptible.
Mayweather is so concerned about Pacman using illegal drugs he forgets to mention that he has had his brittle hands shot up in the dressing room with xylocaine.
He?s not the first and not the last fighter to do that. Muhammad Ali got locker room painkiller injections on the regular from Dr. Ferdie Pacheco.
There?s a former world super middleweight champion out there who does the same.
Some places getting these injections are legal if you notify the commission in advance. Some jurisdictions ban them.
But taking xylocaine, getting his hands numbed before a fight?
That was never Mayweather?s doing. Doctors held him down and forced him to get these shots.
You people don?t get it, do you? Wake up and smell the sour grapes.
Nothing is ever L?il Floyd?s fault. He pretends to be some hardened criminal, some jaded jailbird, but it’s an act.
His father can tell him about prison and his uncle can tell him about jail but he masquerades as a rough and ready street tough. If you don?t get it, you must be a punk ass bitch.
