A little boxing birdie just informed your battered correspondent that like Cinderella the clock will toll for the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight at midnight tonight.
This means midnight Wednesday, Pacific Coast time, as Wednesday turns into Thursday. Contrary to my earlier report, the parties are not encamped in former California State Court Judge Daniel Weinstein’s JAMS office in Santa Monica for Round 2 of the mediation.
The Golden Boys are at their office on Wilshire Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles while Top Rank’s Bob Arum, Manny Pacquiao’s promoter, is in his office near the Las Vegas Strip.
“The phones are burning up,” the informative birdie said at 7:40 pm EST. “This midnight deadline was set by Weinstein to hopefully nudge them into making a deal for the big fight.”
So we may all know soon whether the mega bout is on or whether Mayweather-Pacquiao has turned into a pumpkin like Cinderella’s coach did.
