Floyd Mayweather Jr constantly fends off attacks from those who believe that he is more hype than legend. Many boxing fans accuse him of cherry picking his opponents so that he has had the size advantage throughout his career. With the most recent train wreck concerning a Manny Pacquiao fight, Floyd can still redeem himself by taking on a guy like Shane Mosley. Even with his undefeated record, Floyd has not convinced boxing fans that he should be put into an elite category of all time greats. A victory over a “Sugar” Shane Mosley would certainly increase the level or respect that people hold toward him.
Mosley’s fight against Mexican warrior Antonio Margarito was hyped up to be a very competitive fight. Margarito’s fearless and relentless come forward attack, against Mosley’s speed and power. It certainly did not turn out to be a very competitive fight. Mosley destroyed Margarito, like nobody has ever done before. Ever since that fight Shane Mosley has been screaming for an opportunity to get a crack at either Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather Jr. With the current negotiations breaking down, and lawsuits being filed against Mayweather, it surely counts Pacquiao out as an opponent anytime soon.
If Floyd ever were to step up and take on a Shane Mosley he would silence many. If he were to mess around and beat Mosley, he would set up an even bigger payday to fight Manny Pacquiao. He would be coming into a Pacquiao fight with a victory over Shane Mosley, and would command more respect from all. Shane Mosley has taken on all comers throughout his career, so in this writers opinion, he deserves his shot at Mayweather. If not Pacquiao, then why not Shane Mosley?
