MUCH AS Manny Pacquiao yearns to fight again before his adoring countrymen, that may not be feasible at this time.
Rod Nazario, the world champion?s manager, bared yesterday that at least R40 million would be needed for a Pacquiao fight to be staged here ? a sum that, he said, would be virtually impossible to recoup for a promoter who would dare go on such a venture.
A promoter, Nazario said, would need to raise no less than P20M for the General Santos native?s guaranteed purse in the event he is made to defend his IBF super-bantamweight title or go for a world featherweight title on local soil.
