Bradley, the current WBC light welterweight champion , and Paul Malignaggi are possible Pacquiao opponents in case the March Mayweather fight falls through due to drug testing issue. There are several good reasons why Tim Bradley is a deserving opponent than the trash talking Malignaggi.
Bradley has an undefeated record. He has obliterated quality opponents like Lamont Peterson and Kendall Holt in the junior welterweight division. Beating Bradley would certainly add to Manny’s growing list of A-level fighters losing their 0 record against him. Malignaggi, on the other hand, has a record that is not presentable when it comes to promotion.
Tim has a legitimate lightwelterweight t belt in WBC. Fighting Bradley would enable the Pacman to gain belt to strengthen his claim that he is one of the best junior welterweights of all time.
Bradley and Malignaggi are slick fighters but Tim possess more ring smarts than Paul. Bradley has been impressive in his last two outings. The same cannot be said of Paul, who lost to Diaz in their first fight and suffered a humiliating lost against Ricky Hatton.
Malignaggi has accused Manny of drug use to enhance his ring performance. He would likely demand Olympic style drug testing just like what Team Mayweather is asking. He should be included as one of the people to be sued by the Pacquiao camp. Giving him the Pacquiao fight would not bode well with Manny.
Bradley, on the other hand, has issued a public statement that he is ready for Pacquiao. He even said that blood testing is not a prerequisite when he fights the Filipino phenomenon. His statement is a complete contradiction to what Tim’s promoter has mentioned in media interviews.
Let us remember that Bradley has been tipped as a possible sparring partner for Pacquiao. Something that his team is not happy about.The Pacquiao team believes that Tim has the style that approximates Floyd’s skills. It is an angle that promoters can hyped about when it comes to publicity.
If the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight wont happen early in the year, Bradley-Pacquiao is as good as it gets.
