Manny Pacquiao is BRC’s Fighter of the Year

Last week on our Facebook page we took end of the year polls and received a great response as usual. We thank all who participated, thank you so much! If you want to be our friend on Facebook go to www.facebook.com/braggingrightscorner.com

Fighter Of The Year: Manny Pacquiao With a 2009 resumé that includes knockout victories over Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto no other fighter came close to Manny Pacquiao this year and our readers agreed, nominating him the BRC Fighter Of The Year. With a possible fight against Floyd Mayweather looming in the not so distant future, it looks like the Pacman may be on track to defendi his Fighter of the Year award.

Honorable Mentions: Other fighters nominated by our readers were Floyd Mayweather, Paul Williams, Andre Ward, and Timothy Bradley.

Prospect Of The Year: Shawn Porter & Guillermo Rigondeaux Shawn Porter finished the year with 12-0 (10 KO’s) record and looks to be improving with every fight. Guillermo Rigondeaux finished the year at 4-0 (3 KO’s) and like Porter, fans are already saying future champion. Expect to see big things from both fighters in 2010.

Honorable Mentions: Our readers also nominated Danny Jacobs and Danny Garcia.

Knockout Of They Year: Manny Pacquiao KO2 Ricky Hatton: It was one of the most devastating one-punch knockouts we’ve seen in years. Not only did it end the fight, it has many wondering if it ended Ricky Hatton’s career as well.

Honorable Mentions: Also getting votes were Arthur Abrahams knockout over Jermain Taylor, Carl Froch knockout over Jermain Taylor, and Randall Bailey’s knockout over El Gato Figueroa.

Upset Of The Year: Shane Mosley beating Antonio Margarito The readers picked Mosley’s victory over Margarito as Upset of the Year. At the time Margarito was one of the most feared fighters in the game. Mosley showed no fear stopping Margarito in the ninth round.

Honorable Mentions: Danny Green stopping Roy Jones, Juan Carlos Salgado stopping Jorge Linares, and Marcos Maidana stopping Victor Ortiz.
