WBC and WBA super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan retained his titles with a devastating one-punch KO over Tomas Rojas moments ago in Rancho Mirage, California. The bout started out on even terms with Darchinyan looking to bully the taller Rojas around the ring. Rojas had good success landing some big left hands on Vic, but the champion’s trademark strength showed through at the end of the round. In the second stanza Rojas boxed well but in the closing moments Darchinyan landed a sneaky left hand as Rojas was crouching that put the challenger down and out for a full count. With the emphatic win Darchinyan improved to 33-2-1 (27 KOs) and the Armenian fighter called out Nonito Donaire who defeated him in 2007 handing him his first career loss.
