Well we found out this weekend why he is still fighting. “Money Talks” was what Roy Jones Jr. posted on his twitter page this weekend. The question is, why do that to your fans. With a statement like that, it makes fans feel that they got swindled into thinking you came to fight to win the Cruiserweight Title. The hype about fighting Benard Hopkins in a rematch was all thrown out the window.
We can take nothing away from Roy Jones accomplishments. He has down alot in the ring and has given fans their money’s worth in the PAST. Some fighters just don’t know when to hang up the gloves and let their legacy live on. Fighting fights like this starts to diminish your accomplishments Roy. We have no doubt that you will go into the Boxing Hall of Fame, but stop now while you are ahead. You have the money and the fame. Don’t ruin it.
Last but not least, please scrap any ideals you have of fighting Benard Hopkins. He is baiting you Roy. He knows you are on the downhill and he knows that there is a possibility of him stopping you which will give him sweet revenge. Gary Shaw already gave both of you an option to be on the undercard of the next Chad Dawson fight for $200,000 each. Don’t fall for this bait. Benard is a one of a kind fighters to keep going at this rate for his age. He has not taken a beating in his career nor has he been knocked out. There’s an old saying Roy, “Don’t try to keep up with the Joneses”. We hope that you retire and enjoy the rest of your life outside the ring. Focus on Square Ring and bring up some amateurs now.
