Alright Paulie so here we are standing a week before your much anticipated rematch against Juan Diaz, how are you feeling?
PM- I gotta tell you Albert, I feel real good. Camp has been great and I feel great. I’m ready to remind this kid of who he’s facing.
I’m hearing that right now you are as strong as an ox and as fast as a fox, so I keep hearing great things, obviously what happened the last time has motivated you even more this time around to really put an end to all the previous noise that happened out in Texas.
PM- Absolutely. Like I said man, I haven’t been this sharp in a long ass time. If Diaz thinks for a single second that he saw the best of me last time, boy I got to tell you he is in for the shock of his life. I feel that with the help of my trainer, Sherif, we are getting tighter and better. So trust me when I tell you that I got something for Diaz.
Now I have yet to hear back from Juan, but from what I have read and heard on radio interviews that he has recently done, I took from the interviews that Juan may have over looked you the first time, do you feel that maybe he did?
PM- At the conference we had he recently said that same BS. That he had just had a fight against Marquez then he had to fight me so he was stuck in his room playing playstation or whatever he plays. He is really digging his own grave right now, he contradicts himself because before our first fight, he was saying how fresh he felt and that now that school is out the way he can now only concentrate on boxing. Which one is it?
Are you expecting to see a different Diaz this time around? I mean, I felt that the last time he fed right into your style by rushing right in.
PM- It really doesn’t matter what Diaz shows up. He is in for a real ass whupin. I have sparred with all kinds of styles for this camp so I got something for anything new that he thinks that he may be bringing. Diaz is a guy who can’t change. Like I said, this kid is digging his own grave. He has the shovel in his hand and he keeps digging and digging. The result will be the same as our first fight only much worse for him minus the robbery.
I am expecting a great fight for the simple fact that you both are looking to end all the talk on who really won the last time and who really is the better fighter. Also I feel that Diaz and yourself are tied to one another. By that I mean that Diaz wants revenge on Marquez and you want revenge on Hatton, so I feel that the winner of your fight should have the right to face Marquez in an eliminator bout to then face Hatton.
PM- Yes, for sure Albert, that would be great. Diaz wants revenge as bad as i want revenge so let’s do this. Earlier you mentioned guys like Victor Ortiz and Devon Alexander to me, but no disrespect to them but I am looking at bigger names right now, I’m 29 years old so I am out for bigger names. Hatton is a bigger name as you know. So is Marquez. Albert, I have told you many times and I will say it again, If I get the chance to get Ricky again I will beat him worse than he beat me, and he beat me pretty bad. This new and improved Paulie Malignaggi with Sherif is a much better fighter. I feel that I can beat anybody in the world right now.
Last question, Shane Mosley vs. Andre Berto who wins it?
PM- Man Albert, what a fight that’s going to be. They both bring a real fast and explosive style that it’s hard to pick one over the other. I can’t even pick one right now, hit me up later as the fight nears and maybe then I may have a pick for you, but then again maybe not because they are both amazing fighters.
