WORLD boxing champion Manny Pacquiao capped a day full of tributes to him by paying a courtesy call Monday to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in Malaca?ang where he received the Presidential Medal of Merit.
Video footage aired on state-run NBN-television showed Ms Macapagal congratulating a Barong Tagalog-clad Pacquiao as she awarded him with the medal.
Pacquiao, in turn, gifted the President with a commemorative shirt of his win against Mexican Miguel Antonio Barrera last November 16 and a videotape of the match.
In a brief speech before he was awarded the medal, Pacquiao thanked the President and the Filipino people who prayed for his victory against the Mexican boxer.
