Ceasar Amonsot quickly disposed of Richard Cabillo in the opening round of a scheduled 10-round, non-title main event Wednesday at the Tagbilaran City Tourist Port.
The reigning Philippine boxing Federation featherweight king used a left uppercut-right hook combination to send the unsuspecting Cabillo to the canvas for good in the fight that top billed a free-to-the-public boxing extravaganza, which was one of the highlights of Bohol’s Sandugo Festival.
The referee reached 10 counts and then promptly declared the Tagbilaran City native ALA Boy winner by knockout at the 2:49 mark.
The fight was Amonsot’s first as a super-featherweight, improving his ring record to 12-1-1 win-loss-draw with nine wins by knockout.
However, upstart ALA Boy Rashid Bacus suffered a stunning majority decision defeat to Emmanuel Baguio after four rounds of action.
Joining Amonsot in the winners’ bandwagon were fellow Boholanos Isidro Balabat (jr. flyweight) and John Carlos (lightweight). Balabat won by TKO in the third round over Abdul Simo, while Carlos scored a first-round knockout over Abner Llanasa.
Flyweight Jason Geda scored a unanimous-decision win over late replacement Rolando Baclayon after six rounds.
