Many people responded to my last blog by saying I was discrediting Manny’s last 3 wins, when in fact I was just reiterating what Pac’s trainer Freddie Roach said before these fights even occurred. I hate to say it but Freddie Roach discredited Manny Pacquiao’s wins way before The Pac Man stepped in the ring….lets look at a few examples
Freddie Roach before the De La Hoya-Pacquiao fight :
“I never would have allowed Pacquiao to fight De La Hoya when De La Hoya was in his prime. But De La Hoya is well past his prime now and is only a promoter not a fighter.”
Freddie Roach before the Pacquiao-Hatton fight :
“Ricky Hatton can’t pull the trigger, Manny does very well with guys who come forward like Hatton does.”
Freddie Roach before the Pacquiao-Cotto fight :
“Cotto is damaged goods and hasn’t been the same since the Margarito fight”
My previous article was not biased in anyway and I was merely speaking on the differences between Manny’s last 4 fights with Diaz, DLH, Hatton, & Cotto whom are ALL left hand dominant fighters who have mediocre right hands and his fights with Juan Manuel Marquez. The 2nd Marquez fight was just in March of 2008 and is recent enough for me or anyone to go back and look at how easily it was for Marquez to counter Manny.
Freddie Roach himself even stated last year before the 2nd Pacquiao-Marquez fight and I quote “I think Marquez will go back to his counter punching style of fighting, because that is the BEST STYLE TO BEAT a guy that attacks you like Pacquiao”. That is Pacquiao’s trainer saying what style has the best chance to beat his fighters style.
I write a blog about how I believe Floyd Mayweather will beat Manny Pacquiao with his defensive & counter punching abilities and many Pacquiao supporters attacked me in response. I have noticed that on many sites & blogs anyone who predicts an outcome where Manny is not the winner is immediately attacked by Manny Pacquiao fans. For the record Manny Pacquiao is one of my Top 5 favorite fighters this era, I just don’t believe he has the technical style or defense to beat Floyd Mayweather.
ABOVE are all factual quotes that came out of Freddie Roaches mouth prior to these “GREAT FIGHTS”….with that being said…..I respect EVERYONES opinions and I love that fact that many people are enthusiastic about boxing and this upcoming match up between Living Legends of the sport Floyd Mayweather & Manny Pacquiao.
