Ricky Hatton has insisted that his plan for a shock return to the ring is not motivated by money.
‘The Hitman’ has amassed a ?40million fortune in his 47-fight career, winning world titles at light-welterweight and welterweight.
The 31-year-old boxer was expected to retire after getting knocked out inside two rounds by Manny Pacquiao in May, but now wants to fight again next summer.
Hatton said: ‘I don’t need to fight for money. I want to prove a point to myself and not end my career flat on my back.’
The Briton is targeting Mexico’s three-weight world champion, Juan Manuel Marquez. ‘I need a fight that I am going to sink my teeth into and get up for it,’ he said. ‘Marquez fits the bill.’
