THE one-on-one meeting between boxing icon Manny Pacquiao and his erstwhile business manager Rod Nazario did not materialize yesterday after Pacquiao cancelled at the last minute due to pressing commitments.
Pacquiao, who arrived Tuesday from Los Angeles after accepting an out-of-court settlement offer by promoter Murad Muhammad last week on the $33 million lawsuit he filed in New York, had scheduled to meet Nazario at the Wild Card gym in Para?aque to find closure to their sweet-now-sour relationship.
“He just called me up to say that the meeting has been reset for tomorrow (today) afternoon here also at the gym,” Nazario said. “He (Pacquiao) told me that he had to go to Makati for an important meeting.”
“Gusto ko ay maganda ang aming paghihiwalay. Ayoko na mag-aaway pa kami,” said Pacquiao during the PSA Forum last Tuesday.
A reconciliation appears impossible after Nazario made clear to Pacquiao a few weeks ago that he will no longer continue as his business manager if the fighter decides to stick with his new management team made up of Shelly Finkel, Los Angeles lawyers Keith Davidson and Nicholas Khan and cornerman Freddie Roach.
