SEEMINGLY to the showbiz manner born is Dionisia Pacquiao, who now prefers to be called Mommy D. The nickname is a gift from Ai Ai de las Alas, her costar in ‘Ang Tanging Pamilya,’ and whose comedy career may well serve as her own inspiration.
Mommy D. is a pleasant discovery at first meeting. She is warm and friendly. She thinks these qualities make her just the right player in show business, which has welcomed her as its newest clown and entertainer.
“Hindi kasi ako suplada, magaling akong makipag-usap sa mga tao,” she said at the media launch of her new endorsement for OsteoGard, a natural food supplement designed to preempt osteo-arthritis, especially among women.
Mommy D. admits she’s on a roll in her new world at age 60, something she never imagined ever. She talks of a magazine waiting for the completion of her new house in GenSan where she will be photographed. The 4-bedroom house is being built to the tune of 7 million pesos. It sits on 600 sq m of prime land in the city.
Her famous son, Manny, is helping her build the house. Mommy D. admitted that the money she makes as an actress and endorser is used to help her other children.
“Nakakahiya namang lahat sila ay aasa kay Manny, may sarili ring pamilya ’yon,’ she said.
