Manny Pacquiao is in Los Angeles today and preparing for his return home to The Philippines as the conquering hero that he is.
“The Fight” between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. just makes too much sense to me not to be made.
One element of a successful mega promotion is that one fighter is, well, the bad guy. That one must wear the black hat.
While the money is still being counted from Pacquiao vs. Cotto, incredibly there was no bad guy in this promotion.
However, with Pacquiao vs. Mayweather, it is obvious we have a brooding bad guy in Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and he relishes the role.
It’s not Floyd as much as it is his family including father Floyd, Sr. and Uncle Roger.
Having either, but in Floyd’s case both in his training camp is worse than Manny Pacquiao having three Michael Koncz’s to the nth degree.
How could Manny be concerned about the Mayweather strategy when he knows Roger Mayweather is the mastermind behind it? Is he even out of jail yet?
Regarding the fight itself, I sure hope it happens before any delays for Manny’s political interests, but that is just life. Today, both fighter’s are available. They are in their primes. The boxing public and casual fans are tuned in like never before. You have a good guy (Manny) and a bad guy (Floyd). International intrigue, etc., etc.
It’s time to make this fight actually happen if at all possible in six to nine months. If after that, both will take other “stay busy” fights.
Perhaps Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones could purchased a black stetson hat for Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and a white one for Manny Pacquiao and we can get this party started.
