BOB ARUM IS HOLDING ON TO $2 MILLION
San Francisco, CA-Attorney Sydney Hall made a drastic and profound motion that may for a short while hinder Manny Pacquiao’s pursuit for justice against fired-promoter Murad Muhammad in New York. In the official motion obtained by “Ring Talk,” Hall’s well-known (CNN, etc) Oakland based attorney John Burris, asked that a sum of $375,000 be held, pending his own case against Muhammad. In the motion, Hall claims that Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has held $2,000,000 that will be paid to the winner of the Pacquiao-Muhammad New York case. These monies are alleged to be the amount of profits generated from Pacquiao’s March fight with Erik Morales.
MURAD, SOON TO BE “LIVING LA VIDA BROKE-A?”
Hall argues that should Manny Pacquiao defeat Murad Muhammad in court, thus rewarded with the $2,000,000 held by Arum, there would be no money left for Hall and Martin Elorde, who is also a plaintiff. It’s clear that Muhammad generates no substantial income other than from Pacquiao’s blood, sweat, and tears. Therefore, the rightful monies due to Hall and Elorde from Muhammad will undoubtedly not be paid.
CASE AGAINST MURAD FILED BACK IN 2003
After being completely ousted from the management team of Pacquiao by Muhammad, Hall filed a lawsuit against Muhammad and the Nazarios (Rod and Boying), claiming that Muhammad interfered with Hall’s exclusive “Agent Agreement” with Pacquiao. Since the day this case was filed, Muhammad began to attempt to delay the matter as long as possible.
TWO RELATED CASES FOR SURE!
When Hall filed his case against Murad in 2003, Murad tried to delay it. When the case was updated before the recently filed New York lawsuit, Murad failed to reply to the suit filed against him. However, once Pacquiao filed his charges against Muhammad, he was quick to respond. Obviously, Murad wanted no part of Hall’s lawsuit because he claims, once discovery was allowed, a jury wouldn’t even be needed. Murad also failed to inform the Southern District of New York about his California case with Hall.
QUESTIONS NEED TO BE ANSWERED
The presiding Judge of the Northern District of California now ordered attorneys for all parties to meet in San Francisco to argue Hall’s motion today, Monday, June 27, 2005. Along with that, he listed seven questions that all parties must answer. Questions will very from the current status of the New York case and the relationship between Hall’s case and Pacquiao’s case. Don’t forget about Marty Elorde, who is a plaintiff as well as Mr. Hall. Just as much as Manny was shortchanged, Elorde was also…According to Hall, his contract was solely between himself and Manny Pacquiao.
