Ricky Hatton hosted WWE’s Raw show in Sheffield, England last night, and looked a long way from a former world champion boxer.
Billed as ‘slightly above 144lbs’ Hatton poked fun at his ballooning weight as normal, and looked to be more around 200lbs than slightly above anything. Notorious for blowing up after fights, Hatton is no stranger to gaining a lot of weight, and this has hurt his in ring performance in the past.
Following his loss to Manny Pacquiao earlier this year, Hatton has yet to fight since or give a definitive answer to what his plans for the future are. Some called for his retirement following his most recent loss, but all Hatton has said for the moment is that he he is concentrating on promotion work.
There are still a few interesting fights out there for him in the world of boxing, although whether he can get himself motivated and into shape again is debatable at this stage.
Randy Couture has even called for Hatton to try his hand at mixed martial arts and join the UFC, which Hatton seemed to be receptive to at the time. He is apparently a fan of the sport and used to kick box before his boxing career took off. Either way, it looks increasingly as if Hatton’s boxing days are behind him.
