Manny Pacquiao opened up the doors, and the rest is history. Filipino boxing has made its mark on the boxing world, and don’t look for that to change anytime soon. Ever since Pacquiao stormed onto the scene, there has been a flood of extremely impressive and talented fighters out of the Philippines that have graced the square circle.
Recently there has been a new star that has arrived on the scene. At first glance one could easily mistake this young warrior as a model. With her long black hair, and striking looks, Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton turns a lot of heads when she walks into a room. Inside of the ring, she turns into a working machine that demands respect. Recently Ana captured her first world title by defeating Kelsey Jeffries. It was an emotional Julaton that had her arms raised when the ring announcer read the scores, with the results in, she was shocked, ” I didn’t really hear the ring announcer when he read the results. Nonito Sr raised my arms and was smiling at me, and that’s when it hit me.”
Julaton has worked very hard for this accomplishment. With the win, she captured the IBA super bantamweight world title. She came up short in her first world title bid, but she turned that into a positive for her career, ” If I could go back and change that, I wouldn’t ” says Julaton, “Everything happens for a reason, and I learned a lot from that fight. Julaton goes on to say, ” I needed that fight against Olivo, it prepared me for the next fight.”
Inspired by Manny Pacquiao, Ana Julaton also shows her humanitarian side. Julaton is currently focused on the relief efforts going on in the Philippines. The typhoon that hit has impacted many people on the island nation, and Julaton is doing what she can to help out., ” Right now I am focused on the relief efforts. The typhoon has made if difficult for many over there. Me and my team talked about going over there to celebrate my title win, but right now we are focused on helping the people recover.”
Outside of the ring, Julaton is strikingly beautiful, and quiet, and humble. Inside of the ring, she’s a fierce competitor, a fighter, a warrior, and last but not least, she is a world champion.
