Pacquiao’s political career a good idea?

Pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao has already cemented himself into pro boxing’s hall of fame. When the day comes when Pacquiao retires, he’ll be elected, or at least he should be elected on the first ballot.

Pacquiao has already achieved greatness inside of the boxing ring, and he has proven himself to be a class act man that has provided for the less fortunate. He has nothing else to prove as a fighter, and he has nothing else to prove as a humanitarian. So, next up comes politics.

Pacquiao has made it no secret that he wishes to run for office once again. Many of his fans do not wish for him to pursue this course. I as a boxing guy from New York will not for one second pretend to know a thing about politics in the Philippines. I will say this though, if Manny Pacquiao has half the success in politics as he has had in boxing, it will be a good thing, no?

Politics is a tough business, it’s loaded with crooked people with greedy, selfish agendas. The question is, how will Manny (if elected) deal with this? Will he change? Will he be the same Manny Pacquiao that we have all come to love and admire? Or will the political monsters that be grab him up, chew him up, and spit him out?

Obviously Manny Pacquiao believes that he can make a difference for the good of his people in the Philippines by running for office. It’s a big risk for him though, he risks losing many of his fans if he is not successful in office. So, will Manny Pacquiao have success as a politician? Will he even win? If he does win, will it be good or not good for the Philippines? I look forward to your comments.
