Former Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation super-bantam champ Jimrex Jaca will take on WBO Intercontinental featherweight boss Gairy St. Clair in a 10-round non-title bout on July 3 in Sydney, Australia.
Leon Panoncillo, the WBO Asia-Pacific chairman, has informed that the fight has already been made although there were no available details as to the exact venue of the fight.
St. Clair (36-3-2, 16 KO’s), a native of Guyana now based in Australia, is currently ranked no. 2 by the Puerto Rico-based WBO. He gained a measure of fame late last year when he was groomed to face Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao in Manila, only to be told that the latter was not fighting him due to his “boxing style,” which would turn off a lot of spectators and sponsors. St. Clair is a fast mover and uses his lateral skills to befuddle foes.
The Sibulan-raised, Cebu-based Jaca, who briefly held the OPBF 122-lb title, parades a 22-1-1 record with 9 KO’s, and is coming off a 10-round draw with Japan’s Kinji Amano last May 24 in Tokyo, Japan.
