Former Jr middleweight world champion Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora has been given his release from the Contender contract so that he may pursue other promoters. It’s been 12 months since the former champ has seen action, so he’s eager to get back into the ring and move forward with his career.
When speaking with Mora yesterday afternoon, he informed 8CountNews.com that he has already reached out to other promoters.
” I have already spoken with Golden Boy Promotions, Bob Arum, and Gary Shaw. I want to be with a promoter that has the leverage and the guts to move me to where I need to be moved.”
Mora, the former Contender 1 series champion also captured the Jr middleweight world title in a surprising upset over the late Vernon Forrest. He has been inactive for another 12 months proving that the Contender promotional outfit were not doing his career any justice.
” I want to be with a promoter like a Golden Boy or a Top Rank, someone where I can fit in best so that I can do for them as they will do for me. If they invest in me and put on paper what they can do for me, give me a signing bonus, and fight me 3 times per year, that’s what I am looking for. I have been inactive with the contender ANOTHER 12 months, and they realized that it could not continue like that. We came to a financial settlement that me and my attorney agreed to, and it’s now official.
Mora also shared his predictions on the upcoming Floyd Mayweather vs Juan Manuel Marquez fight, and the Manny Pacquiao vs Miguel Cotto fight.
” I see Marquez doing much better than people expect him to do. Mayweather is the favorite and I expect him to win, but I see Marquez laying it all on the line. I see this as a technical chess match with two expert counter punchers. I think Mayweather escapes with a decision. I think this is a damn good and close fight.”
Mora on Pacquiao vs Cotto
” I think this fight will end in a knockout, and I think it will be in under 7 rounds, and I think Cotto knocks out Pacquiao. I guarantee it will be a knockout. I think Cotto’s body shots and pressure will stop Pacquiao in under 7 rounds. I think Pacquiao will throw 70 punches in a round, but it wont be enough to stop Cotto. Cotto by knockout in 7 rounds”
