New York- Not only did promoter Murad Muhammad of M & M Sports file an answer to the suit lodged against him by Manny Pacquiao but he also filed a counter suit against Pacquiao’s handlers, Freddie Roach, Shelly Finkel, Keith Davidson, and Nick Kahn. In the countersuit, Murad claims that Manny’s new handlers lied and told Pacquiao that he was supposed to receive more than the $1.7 million dollar purse for the Erik Morales fight, which was agreed upon in the contract.
MURAD’S OFFENSE IS REALLY HIS DEFENSE Murad alleges they convinced Manny to breach his contract with M & M Sports, when he publicly fired Muhammad. In that contract it states specifically that Pacquiao cannot participate in any professional bout, orally and written, without the consent of M & M Sports and Muhammad. In the moving papers, Murad accuses that the new group “interfered with the contractual relationship with Pacquiao and M & M Sports and Muhammad”. Murad also hopes to seek additional damages for the disparaging remarks made about M & M Sports by Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach.
